1er Cru Sauternes

The name of Rabaud comes from the surname of a former owner and when Sauterens was classified in 1855, Château Rabaud consisted of what is now Château Rabaud-Promis and also Château Sigalas-Rabaud.

In 1864, Henri Drouilhet de Sigalas bought the estate and his son, Gaston separated the vineyards in 1903 when he sold a half to Adrien Promis from whence the name Rabaud-Promis came from. Adrien Promis owned the property for nearly 50 years before it was bought by Pierre Genestet who sold it in 1950 to Raymond-Louis Lanneluc. Today it is his children, Michele and Philippe are at the helm.

Today, the château has 33 hectares under vine with an average age of the vines being 35-40 years. 80% Sémillon, 18% Sauvignon Blanc and 2% Muscadelle with an average production of 60,000 bottles.

Fermentation is done in barrel before the wine is matured in tank and barrel.
