2eme Cru Classé Barsac

Xavier de Pontac, who is President of the Grand Cru Classé de Sauternes, has made a truly remarkable Barsac with a yield of 15 hectolitres per hectare. The bouquet is floral, peachy and with just a touch of apples. On the palate an intense oranges and creamy creme caramel flavour pervades. Wonderful depth and a scintillating acidity ensures longevity. Drink 2009 to 2016.

The 2003 vintage was nothing like Xavier de Pontac had ever seen before. The harvest normally last 5 or 6 weeks but they had to work day and night to keep up with this crop and it ultimatley only took them a week.

Château de Myrat is owned and run by 2 brothers; Jacques and Xavier de Pontac. The estate, which has been in the de Pontac family since 1937, is 30 hectares in size and is recognised as in the top range of second growths in the appellation. A significant restoration of the estate was undertaken in 1988 with the aim of regaining de Myrat's reputation for first-rate Barsac.
