4eme Cru Classé St Estèphe

Beautifully mature with a red cherry fruitiness interlocked with a cigar box woodiness and great depth of character.

Château Lafon Rochet is ideally located between Chateau Lafite-Rothschild and Chateau Cos D`Estournel on a Quarternary gravel soil with a clay/limestone subsoil. Approximately 40 hectares of this 45 hectare estate are under vine, planted with 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. The average age of vine is 30 years at a planting density of 9,000 vines per hectare. The grapes are harvested by hand and vinified for between 15 and 30 days in thermo-regulated vats after which they are transferred into barrel for 15 to 20 months, 40% new oak. The wine is fined and filtered before bottling (usually around 12,000 cases of Grand Vin).
