Even though there are high levels of tannins they are married with an excellent overall extract and richness. The flavours are plums and cassis yet with a contrasting spicey, earthy character. 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet-Franc and 5% Cabernet-Sauvignon.

Another lacklustre estate has come out of the doldrums under the watchful eye of Christian Moeuix. The 2000 is one of the best Fonplegade wines to be produced in many a year. Only 4000 cases were made of this wine.
