A real classic of the vintage. Jam packed with cedary, tobacco leaf aromas and pure blackcurrant fruit. A big meaty wine with lots of tannins still as well as balancing acidity to ensure a long life. Drink 2014 to 2030.

Bought by the AXA insurance company in 1987 from the Bouteiller family (after 54 years’ ownership), this formidable, 50-hectare estate was, until recently, managed by Jean-Michel Cazes of Château Lynch-Bages (et al.) and due to his efforts, has re-emerged as one of the true ‘super-second’ estates producing wines of real brilliance. These are classic Pauillacs with a meaty, sinewy, rich cassis fruitiness and an intensity that only comes from very careful vineyard husbandry and immaculate wine-making.
