5eme Cru Classé, Macau

A bouquet with aromas of smoke and blackcurrants. The wine is medium bodied with a minerally, firm fruit. The wine still needs several years to reach optimum maturity. Drink 2006 - 2018.

One of only three Haut-Médoc properties to make it onto the 1855 classification. The chateau is now owned by Groupe SMABTP, with director Phillippe Dambrine and cellar master Pascal Berteau in charge.

The vineyards at Cantemerle cover 87 hectares with soils of silica and gravel.
Cabernet Sauvignon 50%, Merlot 40% with the remainder split equally between Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. The vines average 30 years of age.
