Pessac Léognan Graves

This was a wine that really made people sit up when it was first shown at the Union des Grands Crus tasting round in 2004. It has a serioulsy deep, rich colour with layers of ripe and concentrated fruit anc copious amounts of big, yet very fine tannins. With excellent acidity married to an overall purity of fruit this wine will develop into a joy in about 5 or 6 years. Drink 2008 to 2019.

You will find this very fine property situated on the outskirts of Léognan, on the way to Saucats.The estate includes 48 hectares under vine planted on a gravelly/sandy soil (including 9 hectares of white grape varietals). In the past fifteen years, Fieuzal has been catapulted in to the limelight by the sheer dedication of Gérard Gribelin and his wine-maker, Simon du Pouy. Since the mid-eighties, the wines have been characterised by their exceptional concentration and complexity.

For the red wine, the varietals are: 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot, 4.5% Cabernet Franc and 2.5% Petit Verdot with an average age of around 30 years. All grapes are picked by hand.
