Adjacent to Haut-Bailly and only 15km. to the south-east of Bordeaux, this is a property that has come on in leaps and bounds since 1996. The colour is almost blue-purple whilst the nose, although showing signs of new oak, has a pervasive cassis and cocoa complexity. The lavish palate has plenty of tannins but is textured, firm and richly fruity. The wine finishes particularly well and the whole feeling is one of true class and poise. Beautifully concentrated and made. Drink 2012-2025.

The owner, Philippe Gervoson, has made it his mission to constantly improve the quality of everything that goes on at Larrivet-Haut-Brion - from the vat houses to the vinyeards. As well as red the château also produces a white Graves of very fine quality indeed. The reds are stylish and will mature well from 5 to 20 years.
