Laurent Perrier Cuvée Brut Nv -
Laurent Perrier

Ref: A0733

The house of Laurent Perrier dates back to the early 19th century when the Laurent family sold up their cooper's business and moved into the remains of an 11th century abbey at Tours-sur-Marne from where they sold their own Champagne. The son of the family, Eugene, married Mathilde Perrier and on his death in 1887 she renamed the firm Veuve Laurent-Perrier. She, however, died heirless and the company was purchased by Marie-Louise de Nonancourt, the sister of that other Champsgne name, Henri Lanson.

But it was not until after the Second World War (during which Madame Nonancourt walled up the entire stock so well that the occupying forces never found out) that Laurent Perrier made a claim for fame. At that time the house was ranked a mere 98th among Champagne producers but Bernard de Nonancourt has raised the company so that now it is one of the top Champgne producers.

The Cuvée Brut non-vintage has a touch of pepperiness when very young but this, in time, becomes rich and rounded with a great deal of complexity and a good firm structure.
