This intense dessert wine has a rich, deep brown colour with an olive green rim. The bouquet reveals an intense raisin fruit with nutty rancio complexity, which only comes from very lengthy maturation in oak casks. The palate is the ultimate in intensity. Raisined sweetness explodes on the front of the palate. Complex nutty flavours flow through the full length of the palate and the drying tannin finish lingers for many minutes.

Blended for optimum flavour and balance at the time of bottling, this wine will not improve with further cellaring and should ideally be enjoyed soon after opening.

This classification is rare by name and by nature. These are the pinnacle Rutherglen Muscats – fully developed and displaying the extraordinary qualities that result from the blending of selected parcels of only the very richest, and most complete wines in the cellar. Rare Rutherglen Muscats are only bottled in tiny quantities each year, but for those privileged to taste them, these are wines of breathtaking complexity, texture and depth of flavour.
The Muscats of Rutherglen are considered the "World’s Richest Wines" and bear a mark of authenticity – an oval logotype with a stylised "R" – which is only applied to the wines drawn from the great Muscat vineyards of the region.
The "Muscat of Rutherglen" trademark assures the highest quality of wine exclusively sourced from the Rutherglen Wine Region.

John Campbell, a Scotsman, who arrived in Australia in the 1860's, established the Campbell's winery in 1870. The venture thrived and by 1885 he had 38 acres planted to vines. However phylloxera, the scourge of wine producers was, at this time, wreaking havoc all over the vineyards of the world. The insect did not ignore the Rutherglen vineyards so John and his son David set about an ambitious replanting programme. In 1933 David died as a result of serious injuries sustained in a fall and his son Allen, just 18 years old took over the reins. From the 30's to the 60's development continued but in 1961, due to Allen's ill health, his sons Malcolm and Colin took over the running of the estate. The two brothers have pursued an uncompromising goal of quality in all aspects of viticulture and winemaking. This vision has been rewarded with numerous accolades for their table wines and of course, the famous sticky wines of Rutherglen.
