Half Bottles Liqueur Muscat, Milawa Estate
Half Bottles Liqueur Muscat, Milawa Estate - - Brown Brothers
Ref: A91167
This glorious wine has magnificent rich tawny, toffee brown colour with an olive green rim, which is an indication of the use of some very old wine in the blend. It has heady aromas of ripe raisined Muscat fruit, dates, dried figs and honey that follow through to the palate, which is concentrated and luscious.

The balanced raisined fruit flavours reflect the care and control over a long period to bring this Liqueur Muscat to its peak and ready for release. The combinations of excellent fruit, high quality spirit, time and care, give this great dessert wine a magnificent, rich and lasting impression. Like all wood-matured fortified wines, its ageing is complete so it can be enjoyed now. Muscat is one of the great wine grapes of the world, but the many different varieties of it, and consequently, the diverse wine styles resulting there from, make it rather unwise to make generalisations. In this case, we have a wood aged fortified dessert wine of considerable age and it can be truly said that this style of wine is unique to Australia, and more particularly to the North East of Victoria. The suitable Muscat variety for this area, developed for over a century, coupled with an ideal ripening climate, and a tradition of skilful handling, all contribute to this unique wine. It is a specialist wine, more dependent on patience, proper blending and care.

The dynamic, yet traditionally rooted family company of Brown Brothers, has been supplying us with premium Victorian varietals since the beginning of the 1980’s. Sadly, both John Brown (snr.) and Patricia Brown died in 2004 but their sons will continue with the tradition of being Australia’s leading varietal specialist, with some 35 different premium varietal wines being regularly or experimentally produced. This exceptional range of wines comes from their own Milawa, Mystic Park, Banksdale and Whitlands vineyards and they also operate an unusual ‘Bonus Contract Scheme’ with numerous growers in the King Valley, where they pay high prices for grapes on the understanding that each grower achieves the highest level of quality possible.
