Everton Red

Brown Brothers
Ref: A207406
This medium-bodied red wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Malbec. The wine has a crimson colour with lifted aromas of blackberries, cherries and hints of delicate oak. The palate is rich with berry fruit flavours, a juicy rounded mouth feel and fine persistent tannins. This wine is best enjoyed when young.
Everton is a red wine developed by the Brown family to fit neatly into their range of red wines between the soft, fresh, fruity Tarrango and the sturdier varietals that finish with firm tannin and benefit from mid to long term cellaring. The blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Malbec combine well to offer a wonderful, generously flavoured wine with distinctively rich, berry & plum aromas. The rich berry and plum characters follow through on the palate and is well balanced by silky tannins.
This wine is made from a blend of 44.6% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44.0% Shiraz and 9.2% Malbec grapes sourced from vineyards throughout Victoria. The grapes were harvested in parcels from mid February to mid May at a range of baumé levels from 12.0° to 14.0°. The wine spent 12 months in a selection of two to six year old French and American oak barriques and puncheons before bottling with an alcohol of 14.5%.
Everton is an ideal barbeque wine, matching well with barbecued gourmet sausages served with mixed leaf salad and fresh crunchy bread. Similarly it is the perfect partner to a simple pasta dish brimming with fresh tomato, char-grilled eggplant, herbs, black olives and a generous splash of olive oil. It is also delicious with vegetarian lasagne or pizza topped with mozzarella, fresh tomato, basil, prosciutto and olives.
The dynamic, yet traditionally rooted family company of Brown Brothers, has been supplying us with premium Victorian varietals since the beginning of the 1980s. Sadly, both John Brown (snr.) and Patricia Brown died in 2004 but their sons will continue with the tradition of being Australias leading varietal specialist, with some 35 different premium varietal wines being regularly or experimentally produced. This exceptional range of wines comes from their own Milawa, Mystic Park, Banksdale and Whitlands vineyards and they also operate an unusual Bonus Contract Scheme with numerous growers in the King Valley, where they pay high prices for grapes on the understanding that each grower achieves the highest level of quality possible.
