Dry Muscat
Ref: A117008
The wine is a vibrant light green/straw colour with a lifted nose of fresh grapey aromas and hints of musk and spice. The mouthfilling, spicy palate features prominent and lively fruit flavours, balanced by acidity that gives the wine a crisp dry finish. This full flavoured wine should be served well chilled to heighten its crisp fresh characters, and is best enjoyed within two years of vintage.
The Muscat Blanc's spicy aroma and intense grapy flavours are tempered with a fresh acidity to produce this stylish, delicate aromatic dry white wine. Its combination of mouthfilling flavour and clean dry finish makes it a perfect aperitif - a refreshing wine which can also be fully enjoyed without accompanying food. Muscat of Alexandria is part of the exotic Muscat family. The Romans are believed to have given the grape its name as they found its distinctive aroma akin to that of musk, and hence called it Moscato - smelling of Musk. Viticultural experts have identified at least 200 different members of the Muscat family and several of these different clones have been cultivated in Australia for as long as grapes have been grown here. Australian winemakers have a fondness for the variety. It produces delicious, plump, juicy grapes and, depending on which clone is cultivated, when it is harvested and how it is handled, it can produce a wide range of wine styles. If harvested early, it produces delicate, perfumed, crisp, dry white table wines but if left to hang on the vines several weeks longer it produces rich flavoursome dessert wines. The dynamic, yet traditionally rooted family company of Brown Brothers, has been supplying us with premium Victorian varietals since the beginning of the 1980s. John Brown - snr. passed away and sadly his wife Patricia died in 2004 but their sons will continue with the tradition of being Australias leading varietal specialist, with some 35 different premium varietal wines being regularly or experimentally produced. This exceptional range of wines comes from their own Milawa, Mystic Park, Banksdale and Whitlands vineyards and they also operate an unusual Bonus Contract Scheme with numerous growers in the King Valley, where they pay high prices for grapes on the understanding that each grower achieves the highest level of quality possible.
