Under the leadership of the late Murray Tyrrell, who strongly represented the interests of the Hunter Valley and its growers for over 40 years, this dynamic company has blossomed from an insignificant player to one of the most important of the few family-run firms still operating in Australia. Now under the direction of Bruce Tyrrell, wine-makers Andrew Spinaze and Mark Richardson, are producing an immaculate, utterly characterful range of wines of a consistently high quality. In 1971, Murray Tyrrell launched the first bottle of Australian Chardonnay, and today, the Pinot-Chardonnay Vat 47 is regarded as one of Australia’s finest.
