Piropo Pinot Blanc - 2007 - Catena

This wine has a bright pale yellow colour with a light palate, yet full of fruit with aromas reminscent of apples and pears.

Produced from hand picked Pinot Blanc grapes grown in the high altitude Tupungato district. The wine has excellent balance between fruit and natural acidity with aromas reminiscent of apple and pear. The palate is light, yet full of fruit and can be drunk on its own or with white meat, pasta or light vegetable dishes. Headed up by the dynamic Nicholas Catena, this leading Argentinean ‘player’ has had an important role to play in the modernisation and internationalisation of the Argentinean wine industry.

The very strong wine-making team of Patricio Santos and Scott Peterson has resulted in Catena’s wineries producing some of Argentina’s most exciting Chardonnays, sourced from high altitude vineyards at Tipungato and Gualtalery, in the south-western region of Mendoza. The Libertad Chenin/ Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc are much more than entry-point wines as they also exhibit forthright varietal fruit flavours and plenty of character.
