Eminently easy to drink with soft elegant fruit, zingy acidity and plenty of refreshing ripe summer fruits.

The climate and soil structure in the Mendoza province are the best in Argentina, situated in the far west of the country, just the other side of the Andes from Chile.
Bodegas Esmeralda is owned by Nicolas Catena, and the vineyards are managed by renowned agronomist Pedro Marchevsky. The Alamos Ridge range are made by Scott Peterson, who achieves here a well-structured wine, managing to coax real character from the Malbec and Shiraz grapes, planting at high altitude in Tupungato and Gualtallery, just to the South west of Mendoza. The relatively cool climate allows a longer growing period than is often the case in South America, where the grapes are often picked too early, in order to retain freshness (as the heat can easily result in flaccid wines with a low acidity).
